Local Area

Enjoy a relaxing walk alongside the Macclesfield Canal or visit one of the many excellent pubs for lunch: the Miners Arms and Lyme Breeze restaurant are both recommended.

Eastwood End is ideally located for leisure activities. Middlewood Way offers a 10-mile traffic-free route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

The National Trust has many historic properties in the area, the most notable being Lyme Park, where scenes for the TV series 'Pride & Prejudice' were filmed.

You can also visit nearby Adlington Hall and stroll through its magnificent gardens; the annual RHS Tatton Flower Show is a 'must' for all keen gardeners, while Tatton Park is an award winning estate in its own right.

For a more in-depth round-up on things to do and places to visit in Cheshire, link into the Visit Cheshire and Cheshire's Gardens of Distinction web sites.

If vintage vehicles and machinery feature high in your list of interests, the Cheshire area hosts many rallies and gatherings throughout the summer. The Anson Engine Museum in Poynton, and the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester are well worth a visit.

Fancy a bit of culture? The Buxton Opera House stages a varied programme throughout the year, as does the Manchester Opera House and Palace Theatre.

If you are a golf addict, numerous courses are located in the area, prominent amongst them is Shrigley Hall's 18-hole championship course, or practice your skills at nearby Adlington Golf Course.
